Project Controller (M/F), Netherlands/Leiden
PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION
As Project Controller at the IKEA Foundation you are part of a small but enthusiastic team of people who are committed to create lasting change.
You oversee ongoing programs from a wide variety of partners and analyze new project proposals and partner organizations from a financial perspective. You are responsible for handling the project portfolio in conjunction with the involved program managers.
While discussing proposals and progress, you are able to level with our partners and potential grantees. You are results oriented, have a long-term outlook, are keen on cost-efficiency and are a driver for improvements.
You also contribute to the further development of the IKEA Foundation by being an active member in strategic discussions and making suggestions for improvement of organizational procedures and operational efficiency.
You are able to work independently while being part of a team. You are eager to take up all kinds of tasks, and naturally take initiative on tasks and projects that need attention and follow-up
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Managing project administration of portfolio of projects and partners
  • Assessment of concept notes and proposals of new projects
  • Organizational due diligence of partner organizations
  • Review of financial progress reports and annual audited accounts of projects
  • Cash flow management of payments to partners
  • Set up of project agreements and amendments
  • Ensure proper project documentation in Grants Management System
  • Contributing to forecasting and tracking annual grant expenditure
  • Optimize processes and procedures regarding project management and control
The Project Controller is a full-time position reporting to the Finance Director and is based at the IKEA Foundation headquarters in Leiden, The Netherlands. The job is for 38 hours a week and involves occasional international travel.
PROFILE
Experience
  • University degree in Finance/Accounting
  • 7+ years of experience as a project controller or in a similar role within an international environment
  • Experience in assessing proposals and organizations, managing grants and reviewing grantee performance
  • Knowledge of optimizing processes and procedures
  • Affinity with IT systems and software (e.g. Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Grants Management Software)

  • Works well under pressure, takes responsibility and shows initiative
  • Flexible to perform tasks outside of the regular financial management tasks when the situation so requires.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Able to make sound assessments and to formulate appropriate feedback

  • Able and willing to travel occasionally
