Financial Risk Management Analyst

The EIB, the European Union's bank, is seeking to recruit for its Risk Management Directorate (RM) – Financial Risk Department (FRD) - ALM and Financial Risk Division (ALM) – Market Risk Unit (MR), at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a:
 Financial Risk Management Analyst
This is a temporary replacement assignment of 1 year
Purpose
The successful candidate will contribute to the activity of the Corporate Analysis unit, in particular development of a financial risk control framework for the Investment Facility (IF) and to the consequent monitoring of the risks. S/he should in the specific domain of financial risk, monitor, manage and report relevant risk exposures in order to minimize financial risks for the IF. S/he should also contribute to the monitoring of EIB’s financial risk matters and more precisely to the reporting activity, to the regular computation of the funding requirement, to the measurements performed with the transfer pricing system and to the forecasting of the EIB’s profitability and KPI indicators. 
Operating Network
S/he will report to the Head of Unit, working closely with the services involved in financial risk and control matters, especially with, the Directorate for Lending Operations outside the EU, the Finance Directorate and the Financial Control Directorate. S/he will also interact, where appropriate, with external counterparts and both Internal and External Auditors.
Accountabilities
  • Contribute to the development of a risk tolerance framework for all relevant financial risks of the IF
  • Propose appropriate limits and monitoring indicators
  • Ensure periodic measurement, monitoring and reporting of IF financial risks
  • Run and verify monthly reports typical to Corporate analysis unit i.e. risk report, lending revenues and margins report
  • Perform the monthly computation of the funding requirements and analyze the variations from one month to the other
  • Contribute to the enhancement of simulation models for EIB/IF activity projection and stress testing, in order to assess sustainability
  • Deal with any issue concerning EIB/ IF operations entailing financial risk, proposing adequate hedging if required
  • Perform reconciliations to ensure the quality of the data treated
  • Configure EIB/IF data within RM IT systems 
Qualifications
  • University degree, preferably in Economics, Finance, Mathematics or another quantitative subject
  • At least 3 years of relevant professional experience in Finance (Risk Management, Lending monitoring or Policy making functions)
  • Familiarity with FX risk management is advantageous
  • Track record in the implementation of risk management strategies and their related operational processes (Front & Back Office, Accounting, IT etc.)
  • Knowledge of accounting principles is advantageous
  • Knowledge of best banking principles relating to management of financial risks
  • Proficient knowledge and experience in using Excel; basic developments or programming skills
  • Excellent knowledge of English or French (*) and a good command of the other language.  Knowledge of other European Union languages would be an advantage

(*) There may be certain flexibility on this requirement, but limited to particularly suitable candidates who may not yet be proficient in French. If selected, such candidates will be hired on the condition that they build up rapidly knowledge of French and accept that their future career in the EIB may be subject to the attainment of sufficient proficiency in both of the Bank's working languages
