Junior Advocacy Adviser

Save the Children

Brussels, Belgium

Save the Children is the world's leading independent organisation for children. We save children's lives; we fight for their rights; we help them fulfil their potential. We work in over 120 countries, with local communities, national governments, international institutions and the public sector to achieve immediate and lasting change.

We're currently looking for a Junior Advocacy Adviser to be based at our office in Brussels as part of our EU domestic advocacy team. The role is offered on the basis of a fixed term contract until the end of December 2016.

Our advocacy on children's rights issues is rooted in our programming, with a current focus on children's rights, migrant children and on child poverty. In this role you will play an important role in ensuring that the EU implements and renews its commitment to protect, respect and promote children's rights in the European Union and ascension countries. You'll work closely alongside our European member organisations to support our advocacy agenda and our engagement with the Commission, European Parliament and other Brussels-based influencing targets.

In order to be successful you will bring relevant working experience in children's rights/poverty/social policy/migration at the European level, knowledge of, and an understanding of, the EU and its role in social/other internal EU policies. You will be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills, be fluent in written and spoken English and, ideally, have knowledge of French or another European language. You will also be able to manage small or medium sized projects whilst working with a rapidly changing set of priorities. Ideally you will have a postgraduate degree in the field of international relations/economics/politics/law or a related EU policy field.

On a personal level you'll have a passion for working in the NGO sector and a commitment to our values.
