Community Health Educator/Facilitator

The Women Empowered (WE) Part-Time Community Facilitator will be responsible for the direct implementation of WE activities including the formation and facilitation of WE groups, as well as the administration of monitoring and evaluation tools. Written and spoken fluency in both English and Arabic are required for this role.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:**
  1. Direct Implementation of WE Methodology
    • Implement the WE program in San Diego County through the creation and management of WE groups.
    • Facilitate weekly or bi-weekly WE group meetings.
    • Regular reporting on activities implemented, as well as accomplishments and challenges.
    • Provide on-going referrals to available services and resources for participants.
    • Establish connections with local businesses, educational institutions, and service providers to provide information and resources to participants based on members’ interests.
    • Foster awareness of income-generating and business opportunities.
    • Other duties as assigned
  2. Program Monitoring and Evaluation
  3. Collect monitoring and evaluation data on an on-going basis.
  4. Ensure that accurate and timely information is entered into Management Information System (MIS).
  5. Document case studies and stories regarding the project’s successes.
  6. Support Program Manager in the gathering of information in preparation for reports.
Required Qualifications:**
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Associate’s degree with technical training and relevant work experience
  • 2-3 years professional experience in similar role – Social Work, Community Organizing or Community Health Promotion experience preferred
  • Written and spoken fluency in both English and Arabic (required)
  • Knowledge and experience working with the Iraqi/Chaldean community in San Diego
  • Experience with group work or management
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills
  • Ability to take initiative, solve problems, anticipate actions, and to use creative means to complete tasks
  • Willingness to learn and respond to constructive feedback
  • Ability to work as an integral part of a team, taking guidance and input from a variety of staff
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, including ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks independently
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Anticipated Start Date: Mid-October or November
Status: Part-time, 20-25 hours per week
