Primary Teacher Training Curriculum Specialist

The Program

Coffey is currently managing the Australian Aid funded Basic Education Quality and Access in Lao PDR (BEQUAL). The goal of BEQUAL is to ensure all girls and boys, especially those experiencing disadvantage, complete a quality basic education to achieve literacy, numeracy and other life skills. The program will address education policy, planning and coordination, increased child participation in and access to basic education, teacher education, curriculum and materials development and improved school infrastructure.

Coffey through BEQUAL is currently seeking applications for this specialist position to support with teacher education and curriculum development activities.

The Position

This position will work closely with BEQUAL Advisers and Ministry of Education and Sports (MoES) colleagues to support with setting up the systems, planning and providing technical input for developing the new primary teacher training curriculum for Lao PDR and ensuring alignment with the continuing professional development program for teachers. The Specialist will play a key role in mentoring the National Primary Teacher Training Curriculum Specialist to lead this activity after the first year.

The Person

The ideal candidate will have at least a Masters degree in Education and demonstrated experience developing pre-service programs and curricula for primary teachers, ideally combined with experience in primary classroom teaching. A strong interest or previous experience applying your expertise in a developing country context and ability to mentor colleagues from diverse backgrounds is required for success.
