PhD Research Scholar in Service Innovation - Innovation processes, -organization and -methods

Center for Service Innovation (CSI) is a coordinated effort by the Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration (NHH) to focus the innovation challenges facing the service sector. CSI aims to enhance the innovation capabilities of its business and academic partner and includes researchers from all NHH Departments.

CSI is funded through an 80 Mill NOK grant from the Research Council of Norway and has recently obtained status as a Center for Research-based Innovation (SFI). The Center is part of the NHH2021 initiative to position NHH as one of the top European business schools by 2021.

CSI’s business partners include, among others, Telenor, DnB NOR, Posten, Storebrand, Tryg, EDBErgoGroup and PwC. The national research partners are NHH, SNF, AHO and SINTEF.

A position as PhD Research Scholar in “Service Innovation – innovation processes, -organization and –methods” is available at the Center for Service Innovation (CSI), Norwegian School of Economics and Business Administration (NHH). The purpose of the fellowship is research training leading to the successful completion of a PhD degree from the NHH PhD-programme. Research scholars are employed for 4 years and are required to work as a teaching and/or research assistant corresponding to 25% of a full position. The remaining 75% is dedicated to the successful completion of a PhD degree.

The position is part of the CSI-theme ”Open and co-creating innovation processes”. It is mainly associated with the CSI work package on “Best practices in service innovation processes, -organization and methods”. For more niformation about Csi see: www.nhh.no/csi.

Applicants should have completed a Master degree in social sciences and must fulfill the admission requirements of the NHH PhD-programme. Applicants demonstrating qualifications and prior interest for research on firm level innovation processes, or experience from this area, will be preferred.

CSI research will include both partner and industry studies revealing best practices in service innovation. Consequently, good interpersonal skills and written and verbal communication skills are essential. A good understanding of business working practices and communication skills in Norwegian would be an advantage. For further information and requirements, see http://www.nhh.no/phd .

The annual salary for the PhD Research Scholar is set according to the Norwegian State Salary Scale for PhD research scholars: State salary scale 48, which is currently 383 700 NOK. The scholarships are subject to Norwegian taxes and benefits, including health care provision and membership of the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.
