Executive Assistant and Development Officer

PlaNet Finance's mission is to help poor people develop income generating activities, in order to sustainably improve their living conditions. Purpose

  1. To facilitate the strategic and financial monitoring of the PlaNet Finance Southern Africa office
  2. To co-ordinate new business development for the PlaNet Finance Southern Africa office
  3. Participate in ad hoc project implementation support

Assignments

  1. PLANNING AND MANAGEMENT CONTROL Facilitate the strategic and financial monitoring of the office  Establish and update office budget according to the required format provided by head office  Support the Executive Director (ED) in monitoring progress of the office's strategic and financial objectives  Report to the ED and PlaNet Finance's international head office's administrative and finance department in Paris

  2. NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT Co-ordinate new business development for PlaNet Finance South Africa (PFSA)  Scan websites, newspapers and other media for new business opportunities  Maintain the PF monitoring tool on a weekly basis including the status of prospects, proposals and projects in implementation  Maintain the PFSA database of associate consultants, prospective partners, microfinance institutions  Develop and maintain a list of corporate capability statements for all PFSA projects that have been won/implemented according to required format  Contribute to writing concept notes and proposals  Take the leading role in organising conference and events for the PFSA office  Liaise regularly with the new business development team in head office for opportunities, progress reports, etc  Coordinate/ manage the submission of proposals and concept notes using a ‘project style’ approach

  3. PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION (10%) Participate in ad hoc project implementation support  Conduct desk based or other research for projects on request  Fulfil the role of project officer on projects (project administration and financial management)  Support projects on an ad hoc basis as agreed with the Executive Director

Organization Chart

The Executive Assistant and Development Officer will report to the PlaNet Finance Southern Africa's Executive Director (ED). He/she will have to communicate regularly to PlaNet Finance international head office's new business development and finance department.

Qualifications

• Post matric education in accounting/ finance/ economics/ management • Organised, ability to prioritise and manage time effectively • Autonomous • Advanced financial acumen • Structured and methodical • Able to carry out routine tasks • Strong English writing skills • Able to work under pressure • Respects and meets deadlines • Strives for excellent quality of work • Attention to detail

Conditions • Status : VSI (Volunteer of International Solidarity) • Duration : 12 month minimum • Indemnity : based on PF scale, between 975€ and 1 465€ • For VSI, expenses and insurance related to travelling from country of residence to Cape Town are covered. • Location: PlaNet Finance South Africa, Cape Town
