Executive Organisational and Planning Management Adviser, National Department of Health, Papua New Guinea
JTA International, on behalf of AusAID, is seeking a motivated and organised individual for the role ofExecutive Organisational and Planning Management Adviser for the Papua New Guinea National Department of Health (NDoH). The position is part of the Australian Government’s support for health sector capacity development in Papua New Guinea through AusAID.
Based in Port Moresby, this position will support the NDoH Secretary of Health to provide high-level assistance in establishing effective organisational governance systems within the Department. The key objectives for this position are to support the NDoH’s institutional reform, and the establishment and maintenance of effective governance and operational systems within the department. Specific objectives will include ensuring the Secretary’s Office has access to effective strategic management and administrative advice, and appropriate business systems, procedures and protocols to support effective leadership within the NDoH.
The successful applicant will have:
·10+ years’ experience in Executive Management roles in the public and/or corporate sector.
·Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the public sector and overall functions of an effective Government Health Department, including public sector responsibilities and the roles of central agencies.
·Demonstrated understanding of the legal requirements and responsibilities associated with managing a large-scale health department.
·Demonstrated understanding of the responsibilities and procedures associated with managing effective relationships between a large health department and broader government agencies and other stakeholders.
·Relevant post-graduate qualifications, preferably a Masters in Public Policy Management or equivalent in Public Administration.
·Exceptional leadership, management, administrative and communication skills.
·Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team to build relationships with partners and clients.
·Significant experience working in cross-cultural environments is highly regarded, with a commitment to improving health care in PNG.
