Extractives Coordinator

WWF’s Conservation Policy & Science unit aims to provide Network Initiatives and the WWF Network with conservation expertise, intellectual leadership and technical inputs. WWF works to maximise the effectiveness of the Network’s approach to extractive industries and engagement with partners and the private sector. WWF strives to develop and manage global relationships with extractives corporations where relevant on behalf of the WWF Network.

The incumbent will play a vital role in developing and coordinating the implementation of a WWF strategy on engagement with the extractives industry in order to minimize the footprint of oil, gas and mineral extraction, building upon existing strengths and focusing on priority regions. He/she will work on a long term strategy for WWF International on extractives and outline the most impactful areas of intervention, both in private sector engagement and international standard setting.

We are looking for a dynamic, diplomatic and engaging candidate with significant experience in the interaction between extractives industries and conservation. We seek a candidate who has proven experience in marketing, business development and/or corporate fundraising. The incumbent should demonstrate an excellent ability to relate convincingly and credibly with senior business executives.

Location: The position is based in Cape Town, South Africa or possibly Gland, Switzerland.
