Transformation Portfolio Manager

We seek qualified candidates for the position of Transformation Portfolio Manager in Washington DC.

Position Description:

The Transformation Portfolio Manager (TPM) provides project management oversight for the portfolio of projects within the Strategy and Communications workstreams. This includes direct management of some projects and coordination of functional project leads for others, depending on the need. The TPM supports the Chief Strategy Officer, who is the Executive Management Committee (EMC) Sponsor of the workstreams, in managing the work with strong project management methodology. The TPM reports to FHI 360’s Transformation Management Office (TMO).

The TPM’s responsibilities include:

  • Assisting the EMC Sponsor in defining the portfolio of projects in order to best achieve Strategic Priority goals;
  • Guiding and assisting EMC Sponsor and project staff in developing project charters, work breakdown structures and project plans;
  • Conducting TMO project management processes including change management, risk management, issue management, resource management and quality management;
  • Preparing and monitoring performance reports;
  • Assisting EMC Sponsor and project staff with problem solving;
  • Providing feedback and recommendations to the TMO;
  • May supervise one or more project managers, depending on scale and complexity of projects

The TPM works at a high level within the organization and must be able to work with and influence senior management. The role requires the ability to build relationships and convene discussions across the organization, as well as the ability to deal prudently with sensitive or confidential information. Sufficient familiarity with corporate strategy and communications. Strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and written and oral communication. PMP certification preferred.

FHI 360 is currently pursuing a transformational strategy related to A) unifying two legacy organizations after an acquisition that doubled the organization’s size and B) realizing the potential for creating greater value in our work that is enabled by the combination of the two organizations. The TMO facilitates implementation of the organization’s strategic initiatives, sets related project management standards and approaches, and provides direct project management support. The TPMs provide project management oversight and direct support to a portfolio of strategic projects.

Minimum Requirements:

Education/Experience: Relevant education at four-year institution with education in Business Administration or equivalent preferred. Bachelor’s degree with 9 - 11 years relevant work experience or master’s degree with 7 – 9 years relevant work experience, or equivalent. Preferred coursework or relevant experience in project management. Sufficient familiarity with corporate strategy and communications. Strong interpersonal skills. Strong written and oral communication. Strong organizational skills.
