Director: External Relations International Planned Parenthood Federation

IPPF is a global service provider and a leading advocate of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) for all. We are a world-wide movement of national organisations working with and for communities and individuals.

Following a restructure IPPF is recruiting a new post – Director: External Relations. If you have the stature, intellect and leadership qualities to collaborate effectively in development, healthcare, political and academic environments, then join our Senior Management Team and play a key role in the implementation of IPPF’s Change Goals.

Leading our External Relations teams you will formulate and implement a global external relations strategy to realize IPPF’s Change Goals. With international travel you will lead on global advocacy – building coalitions so that SRHR is firmly on the international development agenda. You will maintain and expand IPPF’s organizational and public reach. You will develop and implement a visionary communications strategy. With responsibility for resource mobilization you will consolidate and expand IPPF’s resource base to support growth of core and restricted funding.

You have significant external relations experience at Board level. International and development experience is essential, along with a track record of global public relations and marketing strategy implementation. You are a strategist with a track record of raising organizational profiles and delivering ambitious income targets. You have a proven track record of delivering high quality complex projects to deadline and to budget.

You are a competent people manager and have strong and creative leadership skills. You have highly developed business expertise and political acumen. You have the ability to reach out and build consensus around basic fundamental principles acceptable to a wider audience. You are highly political and networked, and sensitive to, and knowledgeable about, cultural, political and religious diversity. You are a seasoned spokesperson with exceptional communication skills and fluent English. Other languages are advantageous. You have a degree in Social Science or Media / Communications or equivalent standard of education.
