Research Assistant/Research

We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant/Research Fellow to be based at our field site in Cotonou, Benin.

We are hoping to appoint an individual with an interest in mosquito control to evaluate the efficacy of a novel product against insecticide-resistant malaria vectors.

The Post holder will have responsibility to manage a team and oversee a series of advanced laboratory tests including phase 1 bioassays and WHOPES phase 2 trials in experimental huts. The Project manager will also be responsible for liaising with project partners including LSHTM, Tanzania, industry and IVCC. He/she must be prepared to provide reports on a regular basis and disseminate findings through publications and international communications where appropriate.

The applicant will be based at the "Centre de Recherche Entomologique de Cotonou" (CREC), Benin with occasional travel to the UK for project meetings.

The post is funded by the Innovative Vector Control Consortium (IVCC) for a period of 2 years, and is from 1st March 2012 up to 28th February 2014. The salary is on the Research Assistant/Research Fellow salary scale which is from £27,427 to £32,025 per annum inclusive plus a displacement allowance of £3,487 per annum if applicable.
