Gross Monthly salary: €2286.10

A full-time fixed term position as an Assistant Visits Officer in the UK’s Representation to the EU (UKREP) has become available. The successful candidate will also support the UKREP registry officer and provide cover for planned absences.

This is an exciting high profile and fast-paced job. The EU institutions attract nearly 200 visits from UK ministers and senior officials a year. The assistant visits officer plays a key role in the Communications and Visits team organising and managing visits by UK Government Ministers and other senior officials.

The main responsibilities include

  • To create detailed programmes and make practical arrangements for visits by senior officials and Ministers to the EU institutions. This will involve arranging travel, hotel, logistical and security arrangements;
  • To liaise with UK Government departments, the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, airports and railway stations, hotels as well the EU institutions on the details of the visit;
  • To greet ministers on their arrival and ensure their programme runs smoothly and see them off on departure;
  • To support the UKREP registry officer and provide cover for planned absences (this will be for 25% of the job).

The successful candidate will

  • Have excellent organisational skills, able to manage their time well and juggle competing demands;
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills, and be able to build close and effective working relationships with a variety of colleagues;
  • Have good English oral and written communication skills;
  • Have strong IT skills;
  • Enjoy working in a team;
  • Have an open and flexible approach, with the ability to react calmly to problems at short notice;
  • Have an understanding of French (desirable not essential);
  • Hold a valid driving licence;
  • Flexibility for occasional travel, out of hours and weekend work.
