Closing Date: As soon as possible

Kwantlen Polytechnic University is a regionally focused undergraduate special purpose teaching institution. Situated in the Fraser Valley south of Metro Vancouver and with an operating budget of approximately $130 million, Kwantlen is a multi-sector university offering a wide array of undergraduate degree programs, trades and technology programs, and one and two-year certificate and diploma programs to 17,000 students on campuses in Surrey, Richmond, Langley and Cloverdale.

Kwantlen has recently created a new position, Associate Vice President, International Education (AVP), in order to enhance Kwantlen as an intercultural and internationally engaged institution. Reporting to the Provost and Vice President, Academic and the Vice President, Administration and Finance, the AVP will define a vision and create a department under which all faculty, staff and students can pursue international perspectives in teaching, learning and scholarship. With a goal to double international student enrolment by 2016, he/she will create and build strategic partnerships worldwide with educational institutions, governments, professional associations, industry and overseas associates to promote Kwantlen as a preferred destination for students. The new AVP will encourage a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach, support academic excellence, and promote global citizenship in research, scholarship and teaching. He/she will build an enhanced student experience and will attract and support international and globally-minded students.

An accomplished leader in international education, the new AVP will have ideally earned a graduate degree and have experience leading a successful international strategy in an educational environment, ideally from a university. Drawing upon past successes in a field with a significant administrative profile, the successful candidate will promote the University both locally and internationally, and enhance the scope and prestige of Kwantlen’s international presence.

This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary and innovative leader to strengthen Kwantlen’s global citizenship, increase international learning opportunities, and foster a sense of social awareness and global responsibility through learning initiatives.
