Category Manager – Mocality
Mocality is an online business which offers a consolidated marketplace for business owners to sell their goods online, and offers consumers a wide range of carefully curated products at local market prices. To assist in building this exciting business, Mocality is seeking an etail and/or retail professional who is interested in a full time position as a Category Manager for this exciting Project. The position is based in Lagos, Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop a Category Management Plan that is SMART and aligned to overall objectives, for the products under management
- Develop a strategic and tactical sourcing and merchandising plan for products under management
- Plan for when certain products must be available (seasonality, income streams and strategic push)
- Identify when to get the products
- Identify how to get the products
- Delivery channels for the products
- Accountable for turnover of products, margin optimization and profitability of products
- Identify great opportunities and “killer deals” for products
- Identify and build relationships with local suppliers to drive product availability within the various categories
- Identify and manage alternative, innovative distribution mechanisms for products
- Work closely with the Marketing and customer service teams to identify opportunities to increase sales
- Identify and manage supplier relationships including stock management
- Constantly review current orders against available stock orders to ensure that products are always in stock
- Manage strategic customer relationships by identifying new opportunities to sell products within categories

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, advertising, sales, or related field
- Category/product management in a retail environment added advantage
- Minimum of 2 years of online management experience
- Knowledge of MS-Office applications
- Internet knowledge and email essential
- Excellent presentation skills
- Great internet skills
In addition to all of the above, the candidate would have to:
- Not only understand the essence of the internet, but grasp and be excited by its future
- Be a self-starter and achiever needing little management supervision
- Be practical, down-to-earth, non-hierarchical and prepared to "roll up their sleeves" and make things happen
- Be prepared to work hard in an informal culture
