Job Description

Health & Safety • Ensure full compliance with proper safety standards and procedures • Ensure that all team members use proper PPE items and operate in very safe condition • Train the staff in the workshop on safety related matters and submit related reports • Analyse and investigate into safety violations/incidents, report those incidents and recommend actions

Operation & Maintenance • Assume full responsibility for all mechanical maintenance and workshop fabrication activities • Develop new procedures for completing maintenance activities such as job orders to keep track of performed maintenance tasks • Provide guidance to the maintenance team members on fixing problems • Advise and approve on items to be replaced or repaired • Monitor performance of the workshop staff and interfere when necessary • Set the service schedule and checks for the pumps • Handle contacts with overseas suppliers of materials and spare parts when needed • Ensure that all maintenance sites (workshops) are properly equipped with all needed tools • Provide recommendation to plant managers on optimum utilization of equipment and/or machinery • Get technically involved in analyzing offers and qualifying suppliers for provision of equipment • Liaise with finance dept to raise purchase requests • Coordinate with suppliers for provision of tyres and set their life time • Set the wear and tear criterion for the tyres

Workshop • Make sure that working environment in the workshop is good and safe for all the workforce • Recommend keeping minimum stock levels especially for fast moving items (e.g. filters, brakes, bolts, etc) • Train technicians and mechanics on doing service and repair tasks in the workshop • Participate in testing and selecting technicians for the workshop • Plan for future manpower requirements in the workshop and raise staffing requisitions accordingly

People Management & Development • Identified driver from within the company to initiate driver training program for all the drivers • Ensure that all his team members are complying with company policies & procedures • Full responsibility for motivating, training, developing, and coaching his team • Set objectives and performance standards for direct reports from a top down approach • Identify talent and people with potential for moving to more senior roles while providing them with the right kind of development opportunities for the best interest of the employee and the business • Lead manpower planning and resizing of manpower depending on changing business dynamics

Store and Purchasing • Maintain minimum stock levels for critical items • Manage the store keeper activities • Qualify spare parts suppliers as per the established standards

Desired Skills & Experience

• Engineering degree • Strong supervisory skills • 10 - 12 years of relevant experience in cement or process industry.MBA will be an added advantage.

 Professional and/or technical competencies:  Knowledge of problem solving tools  Knowledge in Main shutdowns control tools  Knowledge of cement production process  7 years or more of experience in plant maintenance as Mechanical Supervisor, Mechanical Inspector or Mechanical planner.  Gear knowledge, transmission, welding techniques, lubrication and nondestructive testing

 Behavioural and/or managerial competencies:  Good communication skills (both oral and written): report in a clear and concise way, even in emergency situations. Communicate effectively with all levels of the plant organization.  Leadership capabilities: able to convince and to influence a group.  Motivate his/her personnel, coach and develop team members by giving feedback on the work done. Assess his/her team, propose training plans to ensure the team's development.  By being meticulous and by following procedures.  Ease of decision making
