Director of Program Development Mortgage Bankers Association

Reports to Associate Vice President to develop content, coordinate and manage critical functions for conferences with the staff representative, marketing division and meetings division. These critical functions include strategic thinking and program design budget planning, and implementation and delivery, marketing, and program evaluation. The incumbent is also responsible for developing strategies to ensure uniformity and consistency of conferences, and creating mechanisms to keep programs current and refreshed.

In addition to other large and small MBA meetings, the incumbent is primarily responsible for developing content, planning, coordinating content and executing speaking logistics for all commercial/multifamily MBA meetings, conferences and conventions. Specific program responsibilities include the Commercial Real Estate Finance/Multifamily Housing (CREF/MF) Convention, the Commercial/Multifamily Asset Administration Conference and Workshops, the Fall Executive Forum, , the commercial/multifamily CEO Mortgage Banker Peer Group Roundtables, the Commercial/Multifamily Regional Servicing Forums and any new programs identified jointly by Meetings and Commercial/Multifamily Departments that are initiated over time.

Ensures maximum cost effectiveness while providing high quality programming. Provides leadership and coordination in conjunction with appropriate staff representatives for these commercial/multifamily programs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Works with conference planning committee in developing conference program content design in addition to the staff representative. This may include managing any necessary contractual obligations associated with program design and delivery.
  2. Suggests and chooses appropriate panelists for MBA programs. Incumbent ensures that panelists’/speakers’ presentations are consistent and accurate with all marketing materials. Verifies participation and provides appropriate follow-up for panelists/speakers, obtains necessary panelist/speaker authorization/permission to record and reproduce forms for panel presentations, and coordinates audiovisual requirements and handout materials.
  3. Works closely with staff representative and Committee leadership to scan for external and internal programs for planning purposes. This would include identifying new program opportunities for additional MBA revenue and any overlapping program content of existing programs.
  4. Schedules meetings from the perspective of MBA’s overall activities for the entire year, based on review of the previous year, consideration of proposed changes in offerings, and consultation with Finance, GAR, Legislative, CREF, RRPS, and Technology.
  5. Manages process for the review of panelist/speaker presentation and materials for appropriate program content and delivery.
  6. Provides necessary management to ensure an efficient and well-executed conference.
  7. Works closely with staff representative, meetings division, and marketing division to identify all speaker costs associated with conferences in order to assist in planning an effective budget.
  8. Provides guidance to the Marketing Department and the staff representative regarding the content of conference ads and brochures. Also assists in developing possible conference sponsorships.
  9. Manages process for recommendations for panelists/speakers and keynote speakers with staff representative. Take the lead in contacting and securing speakers.
  10. Responsible for the development and implementation of a uniform conference evaluation process. Provides written reports and other feedback to appropriate MBA staff.
  11. Establishes and maintains a conferencing tracking system to ensure the timeliness of conference planning requirements regarding budgeting program design, selection of panelists/speakers, marketing, and conference evaluations.
  12. As appropriate, travel to programs to provide on-site management with the staff representative and meetings planners.
  13. Provides direct assistance in the planning, development, and implementation of audio and videoconferences.
  14. Provides periodic written reports and other feedback to appropriate MBA staff and provides action plan for improvement.
  15. Incumbent is responsible for developing “Green Meeting” standards for MBA. Organizes Green Meeting committee and makes appropriate recommendations to the VP of Meetings.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  1. Develops a variety of checklists to streamline program activities
