Fundraising Manager - DEC

CLOSING DATE: Monday 2nd July 2012

The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC), of which ActionAid is a member, are looking for a dynamic and experienced fundraising professional to join its dedicated team and implement its new fundraising strategy.

The DEC is a membership organisation and you will have the experience and personal presence to engage the fundraising teams of the member organisations in support of the campaign.

The DEC unites the 14 leading UK aid agencies (including ActionAid) in their efforts to finance relief for people suffering major disasters in poorer countries. We ensure donors’ funds deliver effective and timely relief for people in need during emergencies around the world.

We also strive to improve standards in the delivery of humanitarian aid, the raising of funds via the public and the monitoring of our operations to ensure money is spent in an effective and fully accountable way.

The Fundraising Manager will build the campaign to galvanize support in response to major international humanitarian crises, with a key focus on growing income from digital campaigns. As well as implementing an effective fundraising plan to grow income from the large supporter base of individuals, you will be tasked with devising and implementing a major donor strategy.

Given the unique nature of emergency appeal fundraising, you will need to efficiently manage the donations process including negotiating cost-effective contracts with external companies and capitalising on all fundraising activities.

With a new Chief Executive joining in September this is a very exciting time to be joining the DEC.

The successful candidate will have:
• Proven track record in fundraising with solid experience of developing and managing a fundraising strategy
• Substantial experience of managing high profile fundraising campaigns
• Experience of managing high value service contracts
• Strong management experience and ideally experience of managing brand strategies
• Highly developed project management skills with the ability to work well under pressure
