Head of ACCA - Harare Zimbabwe

The Head of ACCA Zimbabwe is primarily responsible for the successful implementation of ACCA’s strategy in accordance with established policies, agreed targets and key performance indicators. The role will involve the formulation and execution of agreed business plans to achieve consistent membership and student growth and to develop ACCA’s strong reputation in Zimbabwe. This will involve building relationships with key stakeholders, identifying key service propositions, ensuring the provision of quality student services and proper budget utilisation.

Nature and scope

ACCA is committed to playing a leading role in the accountancy profession wherever it operates. Working with corporate headquarters, national and regional offices, the Head of Zimbabwe will drive this commitment.

The key components of this role are to lead the delivery of ACCA’s strategy at local level to achieve membership growth and establish and maintain high-level relationships with each of ACCA's critical stakeholders. These include (but are not limited to) the local accountancy profession, government and its agencies, regulators, employers, educational institutions and learning providers and ACCA members. In addition, the Head of Zimbabwe will ensure efficient operational functioning and effective budgeting and will oversee the quality delivery of services to all stakeholders in the region.

Key Accountabilities

•Provide strategic and visionary leadership for the delivery of ACCA’s strategy and ensure a long-term and strategic positioning of the ACCA brand in the market.
•Determine and take forward the employer and relationship management approach in Zimbabwe. Target specific sectors as appropriate in consultation with the Regional Director and ACCA’s Global HQ in order to help employers grow by developing their finance capability and brand reputation and so enhancing ACCA’s reputation in the marketplace,
•Build and maintain influence by engaging at a strategic level with ACCA stakeholders and influential groups connected with the accounting profession, including key individuals in government departments, local accountancy bodies and regulators, employers, senior ACCA members, educational institutions and tuition providers etc,
•Work with the Employer and Relationship Management Unit to determine a plan of activity for global employers, cross border employers in your market, and priority national employers
•Manage the provision of quality engagement services to members and students in your market,
•Stay abreast of key issues relevant to the accountancy profession and business community and ensure that ACCA is well positioned as a key influencer on these issues ensuring the delivery of ACCA’s thought leadership agenda,
•Represent ACCA as a local figurehead and key spokesperson in local media on subjects in relation to the accountancy profession and the ACCA,
•Working with the relevant operations function ensure the successful delivery of ACCA business activity within the market,
•Prepare and manage as appropriate an approved budget for the development, administration and activities of ACCA in the region and submit periodic financial and management reports and plans in accordance with ACCA internal procedures,
•Develop, train and motivate the local team in line with ACCA's organisation wide competency framework.

Desired Skills & Experience

Background and experience required:

•Must be educated to degree level and be a qualified Accountant or equivalent
•Have a proven track record of successfully delivering and exceeding business development results in a B2B professional environment
•Have experience of operating successfully in a organisational matrix environment
•Have a significant understanding of Zimbabwe and the business environment and familiarity with the accountancy profession and accountancy related issues (essential)
•Be an excellent communicator with first class presentation skills, both written and oral, (essential)
•Be a proven leader with excellent people-management and influencing skills,
•Be able to work under pressure, on own initiative and within agreed budgets,
•Be able to deliver agreed KPI’s,
•Have proven experience as a team player with excellent people and influencing skills
•Be able to contribute to ACCA’s policy agenda as required
