IDLO Head Partnership Relations

IDLO is an intergovernmental organization that promotes justice, peace and development by providing legal expertise to governments, multilateral and civil society organizations. About the Position

The Head, Partnership Relations will join IDLO at an exciting time in its growth and development under the leadership of a new Director-General who took up her position in January 2012.

Reporting to the Director-General, the incumbent will be responsible for planning and executing a comprehensive resource mobilization strategy to transform and expand the Organization’s funding base.

S/he will design a dynamic partnership strategy with governmental, intergovernmental and corporate actors and high-net worth individuals, and will provide strategic leadership on all donor and partnership relations efforts of IDLO.

In close collaboration with other internal business units, the incumbent will lead the process of identifying and building a diverse stakeholder base, carry out market research on their giving priorities and develop initiatives to enhance the effectiveness of resource mobilization and program proposal submissions.

Working closely with the Director of Communications, s/he will promote and increase awareness of IDLO’s work among stakeholders, and will develop and maintain an active portfolio of bilateral and multilateral stakeholders as well as private donors, supporters and advisors.

The incumbent will advise and support the Director General to strengthen relations with Member Parties of IDLO and expand the membership of IDLO.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will have proven interest and passion for IDLO’s mission, values and vision, broad-based experience and understanding of donors’ strategies and policies, and a successful track record in partnership building, resource mobilization and grant contract management, including experience of successfully accessing resources through mechanisms other than traditional grant applications. S/he will have a demonstrated history of working as a self-starter with a proven ability to produce results, maintain credibility of the partnership function, and bring about creative and innovative solutions.

S/he must be able to lead and manage change in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving environment.

S/he will be a highly skilled communicator with a strong customer service ethic and experience of leading a diverse team.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience in resource mobilization work in the international arena with a minimum of ten (10) years in progressively responsible leadership roles is required.

Professional experience of resource mobilization with European countries, in particular with Scandinavian countries, is highly desirable. Experience of bilateral or multilateral aid agencies is an advantage.

An advanced University degree in development studies, international relations, economics, business administration or related subject is essential. Further complementary post graduate training or advance professional qualification in any resource mobilization related field is an asset.

Fluency in spoken and written English is essential, with good knowledge of French an advantage.
