project administrator

Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) is a non-profit organisation whose mission is to improve labour conditions in garment supply chains. Over the last 11 years, we have developed a pragmatic and effective approach to improving conditions in phases of production where sewing is the main manufacturing process. The Code of Labour Practices which guides FWF’s work is based on ILO conventions and the UN Declaration on Human Rights. All member companies must agree to implement the code, and are evaluated on their progress towards it.

Our work is centred on the implementation and verification of decent working conditions in the factories used by our member companies. Our multi-stakeholder structure – wherein business, labour and NGO stakeholders all have a voice on the board and a shared responsibility for funding – ensures transparency, independence and credibility. FWF currently has more than 80 members based in seven European countries. FWF is active in 15 production countries, with a special focus on Bangladesh, China, India and Turkey where around 80% of production occurs.
