The World Federation of Advertisers (WFA) is the only global organization representing the common interests of marketers. Through its network of 57 national advertiser associations on five continents and over 60 of the world’s top 100 marketers, WFA represents around 90% of global marketing communications, almost US$ 700 billion annually.

WFA defends marketers’ key interests at global and EU level, champions responsible advertising standards, and actively helps its members get better value for their ad spend (www.wfanet.org).

Description of the Role

WFA, a fast-growing global organisation, is creating a new position to help shape the future role of marketing in society. The position will be at the intersection of digital marketing, politics and society, with both “external” and “internal” responsibilities.

Externally, his/her responsibility will be to lead WFA's advocacy work in the field of digital marketing & privacy at both European and global level. Working closely with relevant industry partners as well as EU and international organisations, he/she will help shape a policy framework that builds people’s trust in digital marketing and allows brand marketers to effectively connect with their consumers.

Internally, he/she will play a key role in helping companies set the right standards and processes to responsibly manage their brands’ digital marketing “footprint”, through tailored advice, benchmarking and best practice exchange.

Key requirements

  • 5 years work experience (minimum) in a highly professional international environment;
  • Excellent level of English – native speaker or equivalent;
  • “Digital native”: at home in a world shaped by digital technology;
  • Genuine interest in current affairs and international politics;
  • Genuine interest in the role and responsibilities of business in society.

Profile of the ideal candidate

  • a multicultural profile, speaks ideally one additional EU language, knowledge of other major non-European languages is an additional asset;
  • previous experience working on policy issues around digital technology and/or media;
  • proactive and committed, able to take responsibility for a project and drive it;
  • an outgoing, open personality;
  • service-minded, reliable, rigorous;
  • excellent written and oral communication skills.
