Regional Family-based Care Coordinator

SOS Children’s Villages is an international social development organisation, focusing on the care and support of orphans and vulnerable children. We support families and communities to build the capacity to protect and care for their children, through our Family Strengthening Programmes. Where children have already lost the care of their biological family, we offer long-term family-based care through our SOS Children’s Villages. In these ways, we support orphans and vulnerable children to be able to grow in a caring family environment.

With about 30 000 co-workers across the world, in over 133 countries, at SOS Children’s Villages we believe that children can only develop to their full potential if they have a supportive and protective family environment. We work to make this a reality would you find a fit?

The incumbent will plan, guide and support countries in the development of programmes for Children’s Villages, youth facilities and additional approaches to family-based care in Southern Africa. He/she will lead the development of programme support systems and resources, promote knowledge-sharing and learning, as well as represent Southern Africa at relevant forums.

Applicants must hold a degree or postgraduate qualification in Human and Social Sciences or Education and have experience in Home-based Care and alternative forms of childcare for Orphans and Vulnerable Children. The ability to work with social development issues affecting child rights, child protection, HIV & AIDS, and gender is essential, along with the ability to work effectively in a multi-site organisation with a matrix structure and geographically-dispersed teams. Further requirements include the ability to travel internationally for up to 50% of
your time without a major impact on your family life, as well as strong planning, organising and problem-solving skills.

Only short-listed candidates will be contacted.
