MANAGER: CONCENTRATE PRODUCTION (PLANT MANAGER)
Nkomati Mine, a joint venture between African Rainbow Minerals and Norilsk Nickel Africa is an Open-pit and Underground Base Metal and Chrome operation located between the city of Nelspruit and the towns of Barberton, Machadodorp, Badplaas and Waterval-Boven in the beautiful Mpumalanga region of South Africa. The region, well known for its high quality of life and numerous tourist attractions, is a haven for trout fishing and wildlife reserves.
Nkomati Mine is currently exploiting a disseminated nickel, copper and platinum group metal deposit associated with a satellite intrusion of the Bushveld Igneous Complex. The mine is one of the largest open-pit operations in Southern Africa with a life of mine in excess of 20 years. Nkomati Mine is looking for highly educated, motivated and dedicated individuals who would like to grow and develop with the mine.
Key performance areas: • Compile the section’s budget (projecting and forecasting), manage, monitor and report on the budget • Compile and implement the section’s strategy and align different contractors’ strategies to the bigger strategy and business plan • Ensure continuous improvement by determining the need for new improved business processes, plans and resources and keep abreast of and ensure best practice for metallurgical and extraction methodologies • Implement the production management system • Ensure compliance with legal, environmental, health and safety • Ensure effective contractor management • Manage the day-to-day production measure implementation and maintenance by achieving set production targets, ensuring production optimisation and minimising wastage • Manage the day-to-day safety measure implementation and maintenance and promote safety and ensure that SHERQ targets are achieved at a section • Ensure and comply with safety standards guidelines, policies and procedures.
Requirements: • Degree in Metallurgy/Chemical Engineering • 7-8 years’ Operational Metallurgical experience in metalliferous mining • 10-15 years’ Management Metallurgical experience in metalliferous mining.
