Security Advisor Global Rapid Response team (H-Ops)

The Global Rapid Response Team (GRRT) manages the initial response of large scale humanitarian emergency relief operations around the world. The Security Advisor is a specialist within the team that can be deployed to a humanitarian emergency within 24 - 72 hours.
During periods of non deployment, the GRRT Security Advisor, promotes international safety and security best practice around the partnership by conducting security assessments of World Vision programmes, delivers safety & security training and networks with international security stakeholders and institutions.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • To design, implement and manage security policy, procedure and infrastructure that create environments which enable World Vision deliver aid & relief programmes safely, securely and effectively.
    • Work with the Office of Corporate Security to create systems and procedures to assess, mitigate and manage risk within World Vision programmes according to international best practice
    • To assist the National / Programme Director in the planning, implementation and monitoring of safety & security management during emergency responses
    • To assist the Office of Corporate Security, Regional teams and national offices plan and deliver safety & security training
    • Works with the Regional Security Advisors to conduct safety & security assessments


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
      REQUIRED:
    • University degree in Social Sciences, Law, Security Management or equivalent qualification in a related field
    • Post graduate qualification desirable but not essential
    • A certificate or diploma in Adult Education or Training
    • A current Advanced First Aid qualification from an internationally recognised provider.
    • Full clean driving licence.
    • Current Passport
    • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel PowerPoint
    • Excellent working knowledge of emergency communication systems including HF and VHF Radio, satellite communications and navigation systems
    • High standard of written and spoken English
    • High standard of written and spoken language such as English, French, Spanish

      PREFERRED:
    • Minimum five years experience working with UN Agency / NGO
    • Implementation and management of security policy procedure and infrastructure within high risk or hostile environments
    • Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering training.
    • Five years management experience in an appropriate security or emergency service such as Military Law Enforcement, Fire Brigade or Paramedical service.
    • Demonstrated Project management skills.
