Job Purpose:
• To be responsible for a variety of operational and technical tasks (project preparation, sector briefings, background reports, policy note, analytical/economic.
Activities/responsibilities:
• Participate in the preparation of policy/strategy papers, new programs and knowledge product development.
• Contribute to analytical/economic and sector work (ESW) as well as in sector dialogue exercise during Member Country Partnership Strategy (MCPS) and programming missions with IDB Member Countries with focus on South-South cooperation/reverse linkage.
• Manage and monitor projects preparation and implementation phases: identification, preparation, appraisal, project implementation assessment and support report (PIASR), Mid-Term review, Project completion Report (PCR).
• Analyze project implementation difficulties and ensure adoption of corrective measures
• Ensure the quality of project documents, reports, and overall portfolio.
• Participate in the review of technical cooperation and capacity development portfolio and contribute to Country Portfolio Performance Review (CPPR).
• Participate in Regional Network Meetings (ReNs) and Technical Assistance Review Group (TARG).
• Play an active role in knowledge sharing with the Bank's clients, staff and development partners.
• Demonstrate devotion and interest to interact and share knowledge and skills with colleagues in the department and the Operational Complex.
• Coach junior and young professionals on technical and operational matters.
Qualification & Experience:
• Master in Social Science or equivalent combination of education.
• At least 5 years of experience in a relevant field.
• Good technical qualification in the technical cooperation and capacity development fields.
• Good knowledge of South-South cooperation.
• Language proficiency in English +1 other of the Bank's working languages (Arabic or French).
Job specific technical skills:
• Good understanding of (i) human and institutional capacity development challenges and (ii) South-South cooperation and (iii) regional integration initiatives and networks
• Good ability in conceptualising and managing technical cooperation and capacity development projects/programs.
• Capability to make a critical opinion on a documents, scientific paper, report
• Advanced knowledge in Result based Logical Framework development.
• Good planning, time management and communication skills.
• Sound knowledge of project cycle related activities.
• Good understanding of basic procurement and fiduciary aspects.
