The ASA Metals Smelter and its subsidiary, Dilokong Chrome Mine, are situated on the eastern limb of the Bushveld Igneous Complex (BIC), where some 83% of the world’schrome reserves are located. The key to our ongoing success has been continuous innovation and development. These endeavours include: • A Chromium Production Mine • An ore beneficiation plant • Pelletising and sinter plant • Four 66 MVA production furnaces. Role: This Minerals Act Regulation 2.14.1 appointee will contribute towards business success by
ensuring the overall optimum safe operation of the mine and production of the required FeCr and
ensure that the workplace is healthy and safe and that work activities are in compliance with all
standards, procedures, legislation, MHSA and regulation. In addition, he/she will ensure the safe
and efficient removal of broken rock from the workplaces, maintain safety management systems and
standards and ensure optimum team effectiveness through motivation, coaching, mentoring and
using rational thinking processes to resolve daily workplace problems. The successful candidate
will also be responsible for safe and efficient execution of stoping, development and logistics
operations, effective allocation, utilisation and optimisation of resources and effective cost control
of mining operations. Developing and maintaining credible and sustainable production plans and
budgets, managing a production area of the mine safely and ensuring continuous improvements in
service delivery within the department will also form part of his/her duties.

Requirements: Applicants must be in possession of an N3 or Grade 12 Certificate or equivalent
qualification and a Mine Overseer’s Certificate of Competency or MQA level 3 Rock Breaking
Certificate for Scheduled Mines. This must be supported by 2 years’ experience as a Mine Overseer
in Underground Metalliferous Mining.
