Country Representative Swiss Red Cross Khartoum, Sudan

The Swiss Red Cross (SRC) is looking for a
Country Representative
to be based in Khartoum, Sudan, with frequent travel to Sennar State
Roles and responsibilities:
· Professional planning, implementation, supervision and monitoring of running health and water projects in Sennar State/ Sudan
· Management, supervision and technical support of local staff in a cultural differing and sensitive environment
· Monitoring, overseeing and controlling budgets and transparent and accountable finance management
· Managing and administering the office of Swiss Red Cross in the Sudanese Red Crescent Head Quarters in Khartoum
· Capacity building, coordination and networking with the Sudanese Red Crescent and other partner agencies, local authorities and other stakeholders on site
· Progress monitoring, project documentation and regular narrative and financial reporting
· Monitoring and assessing the security and politically highly sensitive conflict situation in Khartoum and the project areas
· Design and development of new projects including drafting of all relevant documents in a participative manner with the partner
· Fund raising and proposal writing for continuation of existing and new projects
· Support to Sudanese Red Crescent and Swiss Red Cross in disaster assessment if required by circumstances.
Requirements:
· Master of Public Health, Management of Health Systems or related technical fields
· Minimum of 5 years international working experience as manager or coordinator for health programms/services with experience in a post-disaster reconstruction and rehabilitation context
· Demonstrated experience in project and team management, proposal writing and finance management
· Diplomacy, tact, team spirit, leadership qualities and negotiation skills are essential
· Sensitivity to cultural differences, and the ability to adapt to challenging working environments under fragile security conditions
· Very good written and spoken English is essential (working language)
· Familiarity with Red Cross Movement is an asset
· Experience in the region would be an asset.
Conditions: 12 months contract with the option of extension, starting 1st of December 2012 or according to mutual agreement. Adequate salary, social insurances, travel and accommodation expenses provided.
