CEMBUREAU – The European Cement Association is recruiting an:
Officer in charge of health & safety issues in the European cement industry
He/She will report to the Director of the Industrial Policy Department
Your Responsibilities:
  • Identifying and managing issues pertaining to “Health & Safety”;
  • Helping CEMBUREAU Members obtain consensus on positions to be adopted on health & safety issues;
  • Preparing and drafting position papers and supporting documents for recommendation to the Steering Committee or the Board;
  • Following and analysing EU policies and regulatory framework affecting or affected by health & safety and recommending all appropriate actions to be undertaken by CEMBUREAU in order to promote and safeguard the interest of the European cement industry especially through the concrete industry;
  • Taking appropriate actions, including advocacy, in order to promote CEMBUREAU positions in line with CEMBUREAU policy as defined by the Board and under the supervision of the Industrial Policy Director;
  • Organising and attending meetings of dedicated CEMBUREAU working bodies linked to health & safety issues;
  • Liaising with CEMBUREAU Members as well as other associations at national, European and international levels, in the field of health & safety;
  • Representing CEMBUREAU in dedicated events of scientific and technical nature of interest to the cement industry in the field of health & safety at European and international levels.
Your Qualifications:
  • Technical/scientific education: engineering or chemistry or physics – master level
  • Professional experience from 1 to 3 years
  • Native-level English skills – written and spoken
  • Knowledge of REACH would be an asset
  • Knowledge of how the EU works would be an asset
  • Willingness to learn new topics
  • Ability to structure documents and information as well as to produce clear written documents in English
  • Management skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
You will be based in Brussels and start as soon as possible.
