Rwandan poverty-relief Volunteer accountant

Our partner is part of the Gikongoro Diocese in the Southern Province of Rwanda. The organisation is run by a team of 50 people involved in health, charity and development work aimed at alleviating poverty through training in income generating activities, projects addressing food insecurity, health and HIV/AIDS prevention, etc. with 300,000 beneficiaries.

The organisation is seeking a volunteer accountant to help in creating an internal audit manual, business plans and revenue generating projects. This volunteering opportunity comes with the option of bringing along a partner or friend to support the project.

If your friend or partner is not an accountant but would like to utilise his or her own professional skills please forward their CV and we will arrange a convenient time to discuss the options with you both.

The responsibilities for the non-accountant volunteer can include:

Assisting with funding proposals
Teaching Microsoft Office; Excel, Word & Powerpoint
Teaching English
Business development & young entrepreneur skills training

We offer ‘full-time’ (Mon to Fri / Approx. 9 to 5) roles with clear terms of reference and a profile of who the volunteer will support and their skills. The key thing here is that the partner is formalising the role and committing staff time to the volunteer in advance. It is likely the assignment will focus on a clearly defined, previously identified problem or need. We would imagine 20+ hours a week.

For more information please contact us on +44 (0) 207 559 1422 or email info@afid.org.uk. Please forward our details to any accountants in your network that you think would be interested in our work.
