Visiting Scientist (Systems Agronomist)

ICRISAT seeks applications from Indian nationals for the following Visiting Scientist position. These position are based at Patancheru, Andhra Pradesh.

ICRISAT is a non-profit, non-political organization that conducts agricultural research for development in Asia and sub-Saharan Africa with a wide array of partners throughout the world. Covering 6.5 million square kilometers of land in 55 countries, the semi-arid tropics is home to over 2 billion people, with 650 million of these the poorest of the poor. ICRISAT and its partners help empower those living in the semi-arid tropics, especially smallholder farmers, to overcome poverty, hunger, malnutrition and a degraded environment through more efficient and profitable agriculture. ICRISAT is headquartered in Greater Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India and belongs to the Consortium of Centers supported by the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR).

The Job: To be part of multidisciplinary team of watershed scientists to undertake system research in dryland systems including crop livestock and crop based intensified systems. The candidate should have good research aptitude to explore newly emerging research topic and ability to be a good team player. In addition to regular agronomic research for enhancing the productivity systems, the candidate need to have knowledge about environment-friendly land and crop management options including social and institutional aspects.

The Person: M.Sc. (Agri) with Ph. D. in Agronomy or related discipline with preferable three years of post-doctoral experience.

Tenure: Three years

Requirements: Fluency in spoken and written English is essential. The candidate should have aptitude and skills to draft reports, research papers and formulate projects. The job involves working in inter-disciplinary team in multicultural and multinational environment and the ability to interact with partner organizations.

The Reward: These are fixed tenure positions, but may be extended depending on requirement, funding availability and performance of the incumbent. The compensation will be an all-inclusive (base pay and allowances) consolidated lump sum amount. The compensation will not be a constraint for the right candidate.
