Brief description: DFID has current, or anticipated, conflict vacancies.The focus of DFID’s Conflict Advisory Cadre is to support peace-building, as well as prevention and reduction of conflict, enabling development, stability, and growth, for the benefit of the majority of the population and specifically for the poor in developing countries.
DFID Conflict Advisers play a major role in: analysis and formulation of policies for country aid strategy including conflict analysis and conflict sensitivity; establishing close and constructive relationships and networks with partners in country, regionally, or internationally –dependent on the job; identification, design, commissioning and monitoring implementation and impact of conflict related projects, programmes and policies (see technical competency framework for detail) and providing conflict advice to other sectors including for example human development and economic growth. Leading, managing and developing teams of specialist advisers and programme staff is required for some A1 Senior Conflict Adviser jobs. A1 Senior Conflict Advisers will also be expected to play a thought leadership role within DFID and across government.
DFID has current, or anticipated, conflict vacancies in a range of country programmes. These include but are not limited to: Sudan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, DRC, Somalia (based in Kenya) There may also be one or two openings in DFID’s London HQ office and additional overseas vacancies arising in the tri-departmental (DFID-MOD-FCO) conflict pool.
Relocation support may be available where successful candidates are required to move home to take up post.
