Account Manager- Public Affairs Newgate Public Relations

Newgate Public Relations is a fast growing international communications agency, specialising in financial, corporate and public policy communications, based in the City of London.
We are looking for a politically interested and commercially astute individual to join our public affairs division as an Account Manager.
You will have experience of working in a political environment gained either in a public affairs consultancy or having or worked with a Minster, MSP, MP, political party, think tank or in the civil service. Candidates should have an excellent grasp of the political process in Scotland at both national and local level.
The successful candidate will be expected to:
  • Manage client accounts
  • Draft political briefing documents on issues important to clients
  • Monitor and attend appropriate parliamentary debates
  • Liaise with politicians, advisers and other key stakeholders on behalf of clients
  • Arrange meetings and events for clients
  • Identify opportunities for clients to engage with the policy development process.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Knowledge and experience of the Scottish Government and Parliament
  • A good grasp of public affairs and the policy process
  • A good understanding of the wider political landscape
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills and ability to convey complex messages in a concise and effective manner
  • Computer literate: MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Confident, conscientious and self-motivated.
