Associate Director, Financial Inclusion Research Unit (FIRU) Washington, DC

InterMedia currently has an exciting opportunity available for a highly qualified and dynamic individual to join our organization during a time of change and growth.
Reporting to the Director of Research, the Associate Director will lead InterMedia’s practice area in research on financial inclusion/financial services for the poor and mobile money. He or she will take proactive ownership of a portfolio of FIRU research projects focusing on dynamics at the user/consumer end. The Associate Director will insure the timely and high quality delivery of all elements of FIRU projects throughout the project life cycle, particularly in the analysis and reporting stages.
He or she will conduct high level multi-variate and market-based quantitative and qualitative analysis and will be a highly skilled writer, producing original and actionable insights and recommendations for our clients in compelling reports. The Associate Director, FIRU, will also be actively involved in growing this practice area and supervise the FIRU team members and external partners. He or she is expected to both contribute and lead the development of proposals and budgets for new business opportunities.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of a Master’s Degree in social science, economics or a related field with a strong academic background in social science research methods. He or she must have at least eight years of relevant research experience, notably in the field of financial access, financial services for the poor and/or mobile money. He or she must be proficient with statistical analysis and ideally economic analysis using appropriate software including SPSS and qualitative analysis software such as Nvivo, and have demonstrated success in supervising staff members.
This position is based in Washington, DC, with approximately 20% travel. InterMedia offers an excellent compensation and benefits package, and a stimulating and friendly work environment.
