Coordinator of Cash Transfer Programming Sana'a, Yemen Fixed-term contract (3 months) £24,245 - 30,853 net per annum plus Hard to Work Allowance £ 4,000 net per annum

Purpose of the Job

To work with humanitarian actors in Yemen to develop a community of practice around cash transfer programming and build capacity of interested parties. To harmonise approaches, build evidence and best practice in country through sharing of experience and contribute to national and global learning.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Coordination and community of practice

Work with existing coordination systems to promote CTP in the country. This will entail to strengthen the technical working group and represent this working group in relevant cluster meetings (food assistance, shelter, health as appropriate). Facilitate and maintain a community of practice in country through information sharing, guidance, advice and exchange of technical support.

  1. Capacity Building

Build capacity in cash transfer programming through conducting at least 2 basic trainings for CTP practitioners (one in Sana'a, one in a field location).

  1. Research and advocacy - also for funding

Keep an overview on market functionality and elasticity in Yemen and gather information on the impact of in-kind programming versus cash-based programming. Advocate for CTP where this is considered most appropriate based on evidence.

Skills and Competence

  1. A post-graduate degree in an appropriate technical field.
  2. A minimum of 3 year work experience in humanitarian/development work. Cash transfer programming experience is required.
  3. Excellent coordination skills such as ability to liaise with various agencies/individuals, organise events, prioritise work and ensure a smooth flow of information and an environment of cooperation and information sharing.
  4. Excellent analytical skills with ability to influence decision makers.
  5. Diplomacy and good interpersonal skills, together with the capacity to remain calm under pressure and not lose sight of strategic priorities.
  6. Ability to work independently and to work with people located in different geographic locations and in other organisations.
  7. Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English. Arabic is an advantage.
  8. Experience and training in the EMMA tool kit is an advantage.
