EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST – OHS & Environment

With a diverse portfolio of over 20 mining operations and advanced explorations projects located across five continents, Barrick also possess a large number of tenements located on some of the most prolific and prospective mineral trends. 10 of Barrick’s mining operations are found within the Australia Pacific region, with its regional head office located in Perth, Western Australia.

Role Purpose
Based across our sites in the Asia Pacific Region, The Occupational Health & Safety Advisors provides advice to site leaders on safety and health matters and carries out safety and induction training, health promotion and first aid treatment. These roles at times, can also incorporate a more significant Environmental responsibility as well.

Key Accountabilities
• Carry out procedures as directed by the O H & S Superintendent including safety and induction training, safety and health promotion and emergency response training and coordination.
• Participate in safety audits and inspection to support leaders in maintaining a safe work environment.
• Provide advice and support to site leaders and employees in the application of and compliance with OH& S policies and procedures.
• Provide first aid treatment in the event of injury or illness on site.
• Coordinate injury management and return to work programs and workers compensation case management.
• Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with all relevant policies and procedures.
• Through the use of procedures to get the job done, ensure that improvements to the procedures are captured and changes are made to controlled documents by custodian.


Key Requirements
• Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health and Safety or progress towards same.
• Nursing or appropriate industrial paramedical qualification.
• Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence
• Experience in First Aid and Occupational Health, preferably in a remote FIFO environment.
• Demonstrated ability in assessment of injuries and liaison with medical treatment providers.
• Experience in trauma management and emergency response.
• An understanding of mining and minerals processing operations.
• Knowledge of safety programs and recognised safety management systems.
• Knowledge of induction and safety training and a demonstrated ability to develop, improve and deliver such training.
• Detailed understanding of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations

Our sites are FIFO on an (8:6) roster, or residentially based on depending on site. Our staff are entitled to a competitive salary package in line with qualifications and experience.
