EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST – MINING MANAGERS

Headquartered in Toronto, Canada, Barrick is the world’s largest gold mining company. With a diverse portfolio of over 20 mining operations and advanced explorations projects located across five continents, Barrick also possess a large number of tenements located on some of the most prolific and prospective mineral trends. Ten of Barrick’s mining operations are found within the Australia Pacific region, with its regional head office located in Perth, Western Australia.

Role Purpose
The Mining Manager manages the mining function over our respective mine sites to ensure that mining operations are optimised to enable the business to meet its long and short term safety, production and cost objectives.

Key Accountabilities
• Maintain a formal management reporting system that incorporates performance statistics, any applicable statutory requirements and business improvement initiatives.
• Set direction and lead the team consistent with Barrick’s Values.
• Achieve safe and healthy working conditions, promote a high level of health and safety awareness and be responsible for the safe and efficient management of department.
• Lead and promote the development of a culture of workforce environmental care and respect.
• Develop the Annual Plan for the department and drive achievement of continuous improvement targets.
• Prepare and manage the budget for the department.
• Ensure the development and maintenance of up to date job procedures for all tasks performed within the department.
• Ensure opportunities are maximised for sharing processes and support services across Barrick.
• Maintain appropriate level of visibility and accessibility throughout team and customer base.

Key Role Qualifications Required:
• Tertiary Qualifications in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Membership of AusIMM.

• Appropriate first class mining certifications
• Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence
• St Johns Senior First Aid certificate desirable

Key Skills & Experience Required
• Leadership and management of a multi-disciplinary mining department in a medium to large operation
• Mine planning and mining engineering
• Mining technology and heavy production equipment
• Detailed working knowledge of Mines Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations
• Relevant environmental legislation
• Maintenance management systems
• Financial and systematic business and planning processes
• Proven ability to deliver results and lead a team in delivering a high level of customer support.
• Demonstrated experience in managing change within large organisations.
• Experience in managing department costs and budgeting.
• Demonstrated application of continuous improvement ideas.
• Desktop, pre feasibility studies, feasibility studies (project development)

Our sites are FIFO on an (8:6) roster, or residentiallybased on depending on site. Our staff are entitled to a competitive salary package in line with qualifications and experience.
