Deloitte Consulting Ltd is looking for a potential candidate to fill the position of a Gender Mainstreaming Manager based in the TUNAJALI-Dar es salaam office.
The Role

  • Ensuring the Tunajali program has an updated annual gender action plan for systematic support, tracking performance, and reporting on projects' performance in addressing indentified gender issues;
  • Overseeing engendering of all plans including comprehensive council health plans;
  • Overseeing identification of relevant gender issues and mainstreaming in all program components including facilities and community services;
  • Indentifying and understanding the gender roles which have an implication on program and women health issues, particularly females' living with HIV/AIDs and involvement of men in addressing such health issues;
  • Ensuring engagement with Civil Society Organisations addressing gender related issues in planning, budgeting, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of effective HIV gender responsive programs and plans;
  • Promoting community awareness, particularly to women and girls, and males participation and support on available HIV services including Gender Based Violence (GBV) and other support services both at facilities and communities;
  • Planing and coordinating anti-gender based violence activities;
  • Participating and representing the project in gender related forums, workshops and events with other stakeholders;
  • Ensuring that the program has relevant gender responsive indicators, availability of sex disaggregated data and gender sensitive qualitative information which will measure progress on gender mainstreaming;
  • Acting as a focal point for advocacy activities on gender equality, women's empowerment and constructive males engagement;
  • Liaising with the Gender Training Institute for gender related technical support/interventions;
  • Developing advocacy and communication materials to promote gender equality, women's empowerment and constructive males engagement;
  • Liaising with the regional United States Agency for International Development (USAID), gender advisor, gender focal point, civil society groups, academic networks and external specialists for advisory services and sharing of information/best practices;
  • Liaising with the Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) Manager to ensure the collection of relevant baseline information and advice on the formulation and M&E systems sensitive to gender;
  • Recommending and were feasible, participating in planning, impact assessments and project evaluations in various project sites;
  • Ensuring quaterly reporting on progress against the project strategies including good practices and role models on gender equality and women's empowerment and constructive males' engagement.
As an ideal team player, you should possess the following attributes:
  • Bachelor's degree in Gender Studies/Development Studies/Law/Human Rights' and or Social Sciences;
  • A masters degree will be an added advantage;
  • 7 years relevant work experience of which 5 years must be in a similar role; and
  • Field experience in relevant development work at advisory/managerial level.
Other relevant skills
  • Experince in working with public sector/councils and NGOs;
  • Experience in working in HIV and AIDs programs providing gender programing/women's empowerement and constructive males' engagement; or mainstreaming support;
  • Coordination skills; and
  • Knowledge of USAID rules and regulations.
