Senior Lecturer in Learning and Teaching Development London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is a world-leading centre for research and postgraduate education in public and global health, with 4,000 students and more than 1,300 staff working in over 100 countries. The Senior Lecturer in Learning and Teaching Development is a newly created post at the London School. This new post represents an exciting opportunity to take forward the School's commitment to deliver the highest standards of learning, teaching, assessment and student support. The successful candidate will play a significant role in developing further the School's highly successful and very busy Staff and Educational Development Programme.

We are looking for a talented individual with a profile in educational development and learning enhancement, and strong proven experience of developing and supporting teaching staff and academic managers. The successful candidate will be a learning and development professional with a pro-active approach focused on quality and results and the ability to support the development of staff from a wide range of levels and backgrounds, both academic and non-academic. With a particular focus on learning and teaching, s/he will also contribute to other aspects of a broad, very well respected programme of staff development activities.

To succeed in this role the candidate will need to be flexible, well-organised and able to perform effectively in situations ranging from training delivery to one-to-one assessment feedback.

The Senior Lecturer in Learning and Teaching Development will take on the role of Course Director of the School's Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching. They will also work with the Head of Talent and Educational Development and others to find ways to deliver elements of the Certificate to staff based overseas and also colleagues at collaborating institutions. The successful candidate must be willing to occasionally travel overseas as required.

The appointment will be subject to a probationary period of six months. Salary will be on the Academic Pathway grade 8 (£50,333 to £57,771 per annum inclusive). It is our normal practice to appoint at the bottom of the scale unless a strong case is presented in terms of current salary, qualifications and proven experience. Appointment will be for a three-year period.
