I. TechnoServe Background:

TechnoServe is an international, non-profit economic development organization founded in 1968 out of a conviction that a vibrant private sector is an essential foundation for economic growth and poverty reduction. TechnoServe undertakes targeted, catalytic technical assistance and other programming to increase the competitiveness of entrepreneurs, businesses and industries that in-turn provide sustainable employment, inclusion of the poor and increased incomes. TechnoServe operates in 25 developing countries with over 1000 employees. A substantial portion of our work is in agriculture, enhancing farm productivity and commodity quality and addressing gaps in processing and other agribusiness capacities. Our programs increase smallholder access to new technologies, aggregation and storage mechanisms, markets, critical information and finance. TechnoServe also undertakes structured programs to identify and support high potential entrepreneurs in various sectors through leadership mentoring networks, formalization support, access to capital and development of sustainable business services such as accounting, finance, marketing and human resource management.

II. Program Description:

The primary purpose of this position is to support private fundraising efforts through the management of key constituencies, members, corporations and prospects. The post is responsible for engaging existing constituencies through events, managing the Members program, and by supporting the development, implementation and management of a corporate members program.

This position is a senior coordinator-level, and the qualified candidate will be able to manage complex tasks and adapt procedures and processes as needed. Excellent written and oral communications skills are required as is the ability to set priorities, manage time well and work independently. The qualified individual will have a strong predisposition to engage with donors, members, corporate giving staff and other stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail oriented and capable of calmly and competently dealing with multiple projects simultaneously.

III. Position Description:

Constituency Management:
Individual Member Program
• Manage members program in accordance with the bylaws of the organization including the processes of identifying, nominating, and stewarding members.
• Manage cultivation and solicitation of members which includes developing an annual engagement strategy comprised of conference calls with the field, e-mail updates, renewals and other activities.
• Plan annual members meeting in conjunction with June board meeting.
• Ensure that all relevant activity is recording in the fundraising database (Raiser’s Edge.)

Corporate Member Program
• Manage the process of implementing a corporate members program which will include working with senior staff members to create a program strategy, charter and implementation plan and timeline
• Identify and research prospective corporate members from both external and internal sources, and develop strategies for approaching corporate contacts.
• Organize and manage engagement opportunities, including outreach, staff visits, solicitations, and trips to the field for corporate donors
• Ensure that all relevant activity is recording in the fundraising database (Raiser’s Edge.)

Events:
• Manage all aspects of TNS annual events such as galas, symposia, etc., including managing event contractor, securing the venue, production of invitation lists and mailings and coordinating production of materials and other collateral in close coordination with other members of the Private Fundraising, Marketing and Communications Team.
• Manage small donor gatherings in major markets (dinners, luncheons, speaking engagements) including working with senior staff on arranging, identifying and inviting potential attendees, logistics and sometimes staffing the events

IV. Required Skills & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, communications, or other relevant field
• Three to five years of experience working directly with fundraising in a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization
• Strong written and oral communications skills
• Ability to manage a challenging workload and to stay proactively engaged during busy or high-stress times
• Proven ability to engage with colleagues and to form strong working relationships in a team environment
• Skill, energy and knowledge base to suggest the candidate can grow and take on more responsibility as the organization grows.
