Westminster Business School PROFESSOR OF HIGHER EDUCATION

The appointee will be based in the Westminster Business School and will have responsibility for leading the Westminster Exchange centre (WEx), which, as of 1 August 2012, is based in the Department of Leadership and Development. S/he will report to the Head of the Department of Leadership and Management and will also work closely with the Deputy Vice Chancellor to support the development and implementation of the University’s learning and teaching strategy

The appointee will take a leading role in:

  • Establishing a strong institutional reputation and profile in pedagogic research and professional practice in learning and teaching
  • Contributing to the development of a distinctive and transformative Westminster learning experience, characterised by its inclusive practice, technology-enhanced learning and the embedding of employability and work integrated learning, enterprise and internationalism within the curriculum
  • Provision of effective professional development programmes in learning and teaching and activities to support staff in delivering excellence and innovation
  • Contributing to the development of a wider portfolio of provision in higher education developmen
  • Establishing the University’s strong reputation and profile as a leading provider of externally-facing services in CPD, consultancy, accreditation support and other knowledge exchange activity

The successful applicant will have a profile of excellence in learning and teaching practice, a successful track record of staff development in learning and teaching and a strong profile in pedagogic research relating to Higher Education. S/he will also hold a PhD or equivalent and PGCE, HEA fellowship or equivalent with a successful track record of securing external funding and other income-generating activities

Westminster Exchange is key to taking forward the University’s learning and teaching strategy and to developing learning and teaching, within the framework of the human resources development strategy. The integration of WEx and the Department of Leadership & Development provide the opportunity to consolidate the spectrum of higher education development within the University and to establish the University’s external reputation in this area.

Appointment is normally within the salary range of £56,000 - £72,000 per annum, commensurate with experience and achievement.
