The UN-World Food Programme (WFP), the food aid organization of the United Nations is seeking applications from qualified Filipino nationals for the following position:

Job content:

This post is based in Iligan. Under the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Assistant/Climate Change Adaptation Project Coordinator and overall guidance of the Senior National Programme Officer, the Field Monitor will perform the following key activities:

• Coordinate with relevant local government units in Cagayan De Oro, Davao and Butuan to initiate the implementation of WFP’s Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) activities as part of the wider disaster preparedness and response programme,
• Work closely with implementing partners (NGOs and other UN agencies) for the conduct of CCA trainings to LGU personnel,
• Support the public awareness and public education activities of the CCA through advocacy and community sensitization,
• Work with partners to implement demonstration CCA small-scale projects as a follow up to the trainings,
• Conduct frequent field missions to CCA project sites to ensure proper implementation of activities and provide detailed analytical reports,
• Provide timely field reports and implemementation updates to CCA Project Coordinator and Programme Unit, and
• Any other tasks as may be required.

Minimum qualifications

Education:

University degree in Social Science course or any development related degree

Experience:

At least 3 years of experience in social or development work. Those with specific disaster risk reduction or climate change adaptation experience are encouraged to apply. Familiarity with local government system and coordinating with multiple stakeholders is an advantage.

Essential:

Excellent computer knowledge of Microsoft software applications, particularly MS Word and MS Excel.

Language:

Fluent both in written and spoken English and ability to write reports and provide feedback to management.

Desirable:

Working knowledge of Visayan or local dialect used in the areas covered. Previous experience working in the project region.
