Regional Humanitarian Gender Lead in Thailand


Regional Humanitarian Gender Lead National Post, 2 Year Fixed Term Contract, Competitive national salary scale and benefits package
About the Role Your role will champion and lead how our humanitarian work in Asia addresses the different needs of women, girl, boys and men.
You will be responsible for developing and leading Oxfam’s humanitarian gender work across the 11 countries in the Asia region. You will lead and facilitate the development of coherent programme policy and direction. This will involve working directly with country teams before, during and after emergencies. The role will be both hands on and practical and strategic, up to 50% of your time will be spent travelling.
What we’re looking for You’ll bring us an extensive background in gender in relation to at least two of development programming, disaster risk reduction and humanitarian response. Whilst fully committed to women’s rights you’re also up-to-date with current gender thinking and practice and experienced in designing and leading on capacity building at operational level. Proven relationship management skills, together with cultural sensitivity, gained from working in the region, are important requirements. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.
The preferred base location would be the Oxfam Regional Centre in Bangkok Thailand; however the position could also be based in one of our country offices in Bangladesh, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan and the Philippines. We welcome application from Bangladeshi, Indonesian, Nepali, Pakistani, Filipino and Thai nationals. The post holder needs to have the right to work in the country of their base.
