Youth Development Officer (2 Year Contract) (No: YDO12)
SAIIA has grown its Youth Development Programme substantially over recent years. The outreach programme fosters awareness of international relations and stimulates young South Africans to engage with such issues thereby cultivating future leaders. SAIIA is looking to appoint a dynamic person who is passionate about Youth Development to manage and coordinate this programme. The successful applicant must have experience in organising programmes and conferences on a national level, and knowledge of the Model United Nations schools programme is non-negotiable. In addition, the successful candidate must have experience in working with national and international donors as well as the ability to demonstrate existing relationships with key stakeholder groups such as the United Nations system, civil society and the education sector.
This role requires the supervision of volunteers and interns.
Requirements:
• Honours degree and teaching qualification (preferably in History, Geography or Life Sciences)
• Experience in environmental education programmes is essential
• Experience in writing grant proposals and donor reports
• Good planning and organising skills
• Good supervisory and interpersonal skills
• Driver’s Licence and own vehicle
• Ability to work independently and self-motivated
