University of Johannesburg SPECIAL PROJECT MANAGER

The University of Johannesburg invites suitably qualified individuals to apply for the following positions:

SPECIAL PROJECT MANAGER

The position reports to the Executive Director: Institutional Advancement.

The incumbent will be responsible for: • Planning, managing, implementing and evaluating special projects within the Advancement Division • Compiling project plans for each special project • Implementing roll-out of projects according to project plan • Ensuring governance practices are followed with all special projects • Ensuring effective reporting throughout project roll-out • Ensuring effective budgeting and financial management for all projects • Preparing final report on each project • Complying with any request from the Executive Director to assist with special projects as part of a project team • Tracking critical project reporting requirements to the client and the Executive Director • Assisting in following up on progress before specified due dates by collecting data/information relating to reporting the projects progress • Distributing project progress reports timeously and consistently to all relevant parties • Maintaining the project calendar • Scheduling and reminding all stakeholders of important reporting obligations/dates • Understanding the impact of each individual’s role on the project and elements that have an impact on project deliverables • Assisting the Executive Director during the development of major projects from commencement to completion.

Requirements: • An MBA qualification, or higher degree in other relevant fields • A minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in Project Management • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in project budgeting/planning • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in Community Engagement and Government Relations • A minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in a tertiary education environment • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in report writing.

The successful candidate must display the following competencies: • Project budgeting and planning • Supplier relationships/management • Report writing • Understanding of relationship marketing/management • Tertiary institution landscape • Relationship building and networking • Computer literacy in MS Office packages • Management of a budget • Advisory, persuasive and influencing skills.
