About the role
A crucial role in the delivery of Save the Children’s programs in Solomon Islands, the Country Director (CD) will provide strategic direction and guidance to ensure effective programming in a developing country environment.
The CD will hold responsibility for facilitating programmatic and operational priorities, whilst ensuring alignment with the broader objectives of Save the Children Australia and Save the Children International (SCI). The role will to ensure the growth and sustainability of Save the Children’s programming portfolio and work in close collaboration with other SCA country offices to lead a strong programmatic focus with strategic vision.
The success of the CD will be measured through the management and development of the country program in Solomon Islands including:
• External relationships with donors and Save the Children partners • Initiation of strategic partnerships with donors and key stakeholders in the local community. • Comprehensive financial oversight of the country program • Securing strategic and sustainable funding opportunities for SCA. • Management of resources, quality and risk • Human resource oversight of fellow international and national staff, currently approximately 150 staff based in-country, across 3 provincial areas • Capacity building of national staff in program management, reporting, grant management and advocacy • Safety and security, including work relating to Save the Children International Cooperation in Emergencies • Advocacy in key areas of human rights and international development
The Country Director reports to the Head of International Development Programs based in the Melbourne office.
We are seeking a well-rounded individual with strong leadership experience in a Country Director or senior field role. The successful candidate will be tertiary educated with strong relationship and communication skills, high levels of emotional intelligence and a commercially savvy mindset.
