UNICEF Fundraising Specialist (Foundations), P-3, PFP, New York


Purpose:
Under the general guidance of the Fundraising Manager, the fundraising specialist will provide support to the manager in developing, coordinating, negotiating and monitoring strategic alliances and engagements with private foundations and corporate partners with a primary focus on the grant making and private foundations community. Staff member is also responsible to guide Country Offices and National Committees in the development of strategies for mobilizing resources and building successful alliances with private sector partners (private and grant making foundations and corporate partners.)
Qualification:
Advanced university degree in Business Management, Communication, Public Relations; Marketing: or equivalent professional work experience in Fundraising and sponsorships, combined with a university degree in a related field. A first level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced degree. Five years of relevant work experience including experience working directly with grant making private foundation community and in corporate fundraising/engagement, communications, partnership development, marketing and project management. Knowledge of current trends, theories and practices in private foundation grant making, fundraising, and private sector partnership development. Fluency in English required; another UN language an asset.
Key Expected Results:
  1. Assist the Foundation Manager in providing support to HQ Divisions, Country Offices and National Committees in developing, negotiating, coordinating and implementing alliances and engagements with the grant making foundation community.
  2. Develop knowledge management plan and tools for UNICEF’s work with the grant making foundation community including: Developing, editing and collecting information on trends affecting grant-making foundations globally/regionally and on partnerships with the private foundations. Updating the Corporate and Foundation intranet site and other media as relevant with information on existing partnerships and aids to assist internal stakeholders in understanding and working with the grant making foundation community. Assisting in the development, planning and implementation of trainings and workshops as needed.
  3. Assist the Foundation Manager to develop new alliances or engagements, and manage, coordinate, maximize and monitor existing relationships and alliances with private grant making foundations and corporations. Manage, coordinate and support alliances with the corporate sector as assigned.
  4. Conduct research and assist in writing, reviewing, and editing memos, proposals and reports for various stakeholders including internal and external partners.
  5. Develop materials including draft messages, briefing notes and presentations as required.
  6. Contribute to and coordinate elements necessary for the development and implementation of UNICEF strategy, policy & guidelines for working with private foundations.
