SHEQ MANAGER


Broadband Infraco is a State-led intervention to rapidly normalise telecoms market efficiency by commoditising only those parts of infrastructure that impede private sector development and innovation in telecoms service and content offerings. With this ground-breaking development comes the need to find enthusiastic South Africans with appropriate skills, qualifications and experience to form part of this initiative.
SHEQ MANAGER

Key outputs: Reporting to the Chief Technical Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for development and implementation of the safety specifications and job specifications, and for the approval of health and safety plans for contractors. He/she will be responsible for the establishment and management of an employee health surveillance system as well as to oversee environmental impact studies for new projects and to ensure that environmental procedures, standards and policies are developed. Focus areas will include safety inspections, planned job observations and audits thereof, development of quality standards, procedures and policies and ensuring that quality incidents are recorded, investigated and reported internally, including ensuring that quality risk assessments are undertaken and inspections are conducted.

Qualifications and experience: The ideal candidate should possess a BTech in Safety Management or BCom in Risk Management, certification in OHSA 18001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001, and 10 years’ experience in the implementation and management of relevant SHEQ systems in a manufacturing, telecoms or mining environment. Knowledge of all legislation applicable to the SHEQ environment and its application is important while professional membership with the Institute of Safety Management would be an advantage.
