Six in South Africa (Cullinan, Koffiefontein, Kimberley Underground, Helam, Sedibeng and Star) and one in Tanzania (Williamson). Petra Diamonds SA, 30km east of Pretoria, has 2 vacancies in the Group Projects/Planning Office based in Cullinan, for Project/Planning Mining Engineers.

Engineering Overseer (Electrical)

Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants who will be required to oversee the engineering aspects for the Finsch Diamond Mine – Capital Underground Expansion Project.

Tasks and responsibilities: • Assess the quality of work performed on the project • Interact with all engineering disciplines on the project • Drive production and maintenance • Track projects against plans • Monitor project schedules and resource allocations • Ensure maintenance management system is in place • Develop and maintain a document management system to ensure efficient storage and access of information • Work according to the Mine’s Code of Practice and report any observations of this not being done • Ensure adherence to and compliance with SHE.

Minimum requirements: • Qualified Artisan with Electrical Trade Certificate at a recognised, accredited training institution • Proficiency in MS Office • Code 08 driver’s licence • 3 years’ experience as an Electrical Foreman • 3 years’ Auditing inspection and scrutinising experience • Knowledge of Planned Maintenance systems • Previous experience in a project environment will be an advantage.

Other skills/competencies: • Sound knowledge of underground engineering disciplines (particularly trackless machinery) • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise • Good customer and interpersonal skills • Good project management skills • Ability to function on own and as part of a team • Independent, self-motivated, proactive thinking and ability to do own planning • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
