Cullinan Diamond Mine
Cullinan Diamond Mine is situated in the town of Cullinan, 30km east of Pretoria. The Mine is currently mining at a depth of 747 meters, using mechanised trackless block-cave mining.
Engineering Foreman
Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants who will effectively plan, lead and organise a high performance mining team in order to meet the business objectives.
Tasks and responsibilities: • Control, maintain and improve the Section’s safety to strive towards a target of zero harm • Manage the maintenance of trackless equipment in accordance with prescribed standards and work control methodologies with a focus on continuous business improvement in order to achieve operational excellence • Effective budgeting and cost control • Liaise with relevant maintenance planners and operations personnel to ensure optimum equipment availability and reliability • Work according to the mine’s Code of Practice, and report any observations of this not being done • Ensure adherence: * To the Mine Health, Safety and Environmental procedures and legal requirements * To Company policies and procedures * Personal and co-workers adherence to the Company’s safety, health and environmental objectives.
Minimum requirements: • Qualified artisan with Trade Certificate from a recognised/accredited institution • 5 years’ post-qualification experience within a trackless vehicle mining environment • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office and the Windows system • Knowledge of the Mine Health and Safety Act (Act 29 of 1996) • Managerial and Supervisory experience at Foreman level • A minimum of 1 year’s planning
and organisational experience in a mining environment • A valid public driver’s licence Code EB (08).
Other skills/competencies: • Maintenance planning and control methodologies and the implementation thereof • Demonstrate the ability to assess work team requirements • Establish training needs and implement a programme for development • Pass Vienna Assessment - Level 2 (test will be done on Mine) • Sound verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills in English • Strong leadership capability and ability to manage a team • Required to work overtime, perform standby duties and be available for call-outs should the need arise.
